Valuation is inherently uncertain. A stock that appears inexpensive can continue falling, and a stock that appears expensive can continue rising. Valuation Intelligence provides context about the price investors are paying — it does not predict short-term market movements, and it never produces a fair value, a price target or a buy or sell range. This company currently retains rather than distributes cash through dividends. Capital Returns Intelligence therefore places more emphasis on its other measurable shareholder-return behaviors according to the frozen V1 methodology.
This company spent cash repurchasing stock, but the share count did not fall meaningfully because it also issued shares. Repurchase spending alone did not increase existing shareholders' ownership.
How returned cash was used
Dividends $0.00 · net repurchases $1.08B · total returned $1.08B · 77% of free cash flow

A very high dividend yield may reflect a falling share price or an unsustainable payout. Capital Returns Intelligence emphasizes consistency and sustainability rather than simply rewarding the highest yield.
Announced or gross buyback spending does not always mean shareholders are gaining ownership. Companies can simultaneously issue shares through employee compensation or acquisitions. Suggested Investments therefore considers actual share-count changes alongside repurchase spending.
Capital Returns Intelligence describes how a company returns capital to shareholders. It is not a measure of stock-price performance, it does not predict future returns, and a strong reading is never a recommendation to buy. Dividends and repurchases can be reduced or stopped at any time. Model CAPITAL_RETURNS_INTELLIGENCE_V1, contributing 0% to the Pro Investor Score.

In the company’s own words
We are a medical device company primarily focused on the design, development and commercialization of continuous glucose monitoring, or CGM, systems for the management of diabetes and metabolic health by patients, caregivers, and clinicians around the world.
We received approval from the Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, and commercialized our first product in 2006. We launched our latest generation systems, the Dexcom G7 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System, or G7, in 2023, and the Dexcom G7 15 Day Continuous Glucose Monitoring System, or G7 15 Day, in late 2025. In August 2024, we launched Stelo, our biosensor designed for adults with prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes who do not use insulin, as the first over-the-counter glucose biosensor in the U.S.
Unless the context requires otherwise, the terms "we," "us," "our," the "company," or "Dexcom" refer to DexCom, Inc. and its subsidiaries.
In March 2022, we obtained Conformit Europ enne Marking, or CE Mark, approval for G7. In December 2022, we obtained marketing authorization from the FDA for the G7 via the 510(k) review process. The G7 is an integrated continuous glucose monitoring system, or iCGM, and is classified as a Class II device by the FDA, and is subject to special controls for iCGMs that outline requirements for assuring CGM accuracy, reliability and clinical relevance, and which also outlines the type of studies and data required to demonstrate acceptable CGM performance. The glucose value algorithm, ability to communicate with approved display and mobile devices, and compatibility with Dexcom Clarity, our cloud-based reporting software, are all substantially equivalent in technical performance and capability to the prior generation Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring Integrated System, or G6. The G7 is cleared in the United States for all people with diabetes ages two years and older, giving more people than ever access to a powerfully simple diabetes management solution.
